Pat Jr.'s Adirondack Secret Whitetail Shed Tips

WHEN: In the spring when the snow leaves the forest floor, when scouting, and checking your cameras.

WHERE: Follow runways where bucks were Jan., Feb., usually in and along streams, the green, swamps, cedar near fresh logging and south facing fingers and mountains.
Always follow sign, dropping and bedding areas.

WHY: Gives you information about antler size and genes in your hunting area. What kind of bucks -- young or mature monsters?

HOW: Enter into woods with compass, topo map, trail map, backpack and plenty to drink and plan on walking.
A GPS comes in handy so when you find hot spots, big rubs, beds, tracks and monster whitetails, you'll have a good idea where to place future cameras.

BENEFITS: Great Exercise and Fresh Adirondack Air

ADK Bucks

Maybe one of the Adirondacks' best kept secrets, the Salerno family, has been taking big bucks from the Adirondack Mountains since the late 1940's. Each Salerno has successfully taken a buck weighing more than 200 pounds and some as much as 232 pounds dressed!
